Three Islands in the Bahamas, 2025

In the fall of 2025 Ron and Carol went on a budget trip back to the Bahamas.

There was concern that Hurricane Melissa would cause problems, but there was only moderate wind and waves around Nassau. Then the ship escaped west to Bimini the afternoon of Oct 29.

Norfolk (leaving) - Ron and Carol got a great look at the ships in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY). It is the world’s largest naval yard.

Most of the time Ron and Carol spent in the adults-only section of the ship. It was uncrowded and had pleasant music.  They found this spot had cool air blowing out of the ship right on the chairs.

Carol did a lot of water coloring.  And drinking diet coke.

Nassau (outside) – Nassau has lost a lot of its sparkle over the years, so the pair decided to stay on ship that day and enjoy the empty ship. (Note her folding water color kit!)

Grand Bahama Island - Celebration Key Resort. Ron and Carol rented a gazebo with day beds. They often walked a few feet to the freshwater lagoon. (Adults only again.)

Ron and Carol did snorkel for about an hour. It was pitiful. Ron saw only two fish and Carol only found someone’s ship pass from July. (Bet that caused a problem back then.) Ron suggested to the lifeguards they should put in Roman statues or sunken boats to make it more interesting.

Bimini Island – The Bimini Cruise Port. The Celebrity Sunshine at the end of the long pier.

Bimini Island – There was a nice beach under the pier and it was loaded with sea shells. Carol was in pig heaven.

Bimini Island – While Carol hunted for shells, Ron walked over to the other side of the island, about 400 ft! The water was calm on that side of the island.

Bimini Island – Then Ron went shopping. Here an art shot in the Fisherman’s Warf shopping center.  Ron bought Carol a cloth beach bag for all her shells.

Bimini Island – Back under the pier, Carol was still finding shells. Then came the hard part of deciding which shells to bring home. Ron made her fit them all into the new bag.
