Abington, VA – Southwest Virginia Cultural Center and Marketplace. After a quick visit of family and friends in East Tennessee they stopped here to shop for crafts. Note the center is the home for the “The Crooked Road”,  Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail. (See https://thecrookedroadva.com/ )

To the rear of the last picture is Zoe making like a ‘V’.

Martinsville, VA - Virginia Museum of Natural History (VMNH). Recommend by Sam Kerr, this was a fun museum. Here the Theresa and Carol get photo-bombed by a member of the staff.

Martinsville, VA - VMNH. An Allosaurs deciding Zoe would be just too tough to eat.

Martinsville, VA - VMNH. More fossil casts. (A photomerge.)

Fairy Stone State Park (FSSP) – The family lucked into a cabin. New refurbished, it had everything, including A/C.

FSSP – The family has lunch outside. Theresa is a wonderful cook.

FSSP – The main reason to visit is to search for fairy stones. The park has a rich vein of them and one may search, without digging, for exposed stones. Fortunately, recent storms had exposed many. Here Andrew and Zoe displaying their finds.

FSSP – Stones found by the family. Only a small percentage are shaped nicely. After 4 trips to the site, everyone found at least one, except Ron who just was not into shifting dirt. (See https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/.../legend-of-the-fairy-stone )

FSSP – Firey Stone Lake. While everyone else searched, Ron read and walked and took pictures.

FSSP – There was not much wildlife. There was one Pileated Woodpecker hanging around the cabin.

FSSP – Evenings in the cabin. Andrew did a great job of keeping a fire going. Wonderful!
